7 of the Craziest and Most Expensive Limousines Ever Made

From the moment of their appearance, limousines have become symbols of luxury, elegance, wealth and splendor.

A limo – due to its special exterior – simply cannot blend in with other cars on the road and it immediately attract people’s attention. Thanks to the limo service providers all around the world, limo hire – the experience of traveling in a limousine –  is now available to almost everyone.

However, there are limousines that are not designed for everyday use. Limos come in all shapes and sizes, and there are quite impressive vehicles among them. Hydro massage pool, mini swimming pool, massage chair, bar, helipad in a limousine?

Yes, it is possible! Obviously, the more extreme the look of a limousine, the higher the price. Check out the article below and learn more about the world’s most expensive, craziest and biggest limousines.

The most extraordinary vehicles in the world of limousines

Just like any other industry, the automotive industry produces stunning miracles. The use and variation of different colors, shapes and materials are limited only by imagination. Creativity has also spilled over to limo manufacturers. Here are some of the most extraordinary car wonders that would easily fit into any sci-fi movie.

1. The world’s longest limo: American Dream

The world’s longest limo

Many people wonder how long is the longest limousine in the world?

The answer is nearly 30.5 meters. The ‘American Dream’ limousine was built on a gold 1970s Cadillac Eldorado that was completely redesigned and stretched. The limo was built in 1922 by Jay Ohrberg (Burbank, California) to create the world’s largest car.

Although the special limo was never for sale, its value was estimated at nearly $4 million. Due to its amazing dimensions, it has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest car in the world.

The seventy-two-seat wonder car – that would perfectly fit into any James Bond movie – had 26 wheels. Because it was powered by two engines, it was driven simultaneously by two drivers in two separate cabins (one in the front and one in the back).

It had five passenger cabins, a large waterbed, a swimming pool with a diving board, a Jacuzzi and a sunbathing terrace, plus a helicopter landing pad. Why do we use past tense?

Unfortunately, the once magnificent vehicle has become a thing of the past. A company hired the limousine for promotional purposes, and after the lease expired, the car was taken to a warehouse in New Jersey.

The frame was damaged, its windows broke, its wheels disappeared, and its parts had been destroyed by rust. The ‘American Dream’ limo was taken to the Autoseum school for adults in New York in 2014, where students can practice the ins and outs of car body repair.

2. Fiery red wonder: Ferrari 360 Modena

Ferrari 360 Modena

Designed by Dan Cawley, the stunningly sleek Ferrari 360 Modena limousine was built on an original Ferrari 360 and they added extra seats. Thanks to this upgrade, it can comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers. Only one model was made and it is priced at $390.000.

Considered the world’s second-fastest limousine, this sporty limo has a top speed of 266 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6 seconds.

3. The jet-black monster: Midnight Rider

Midnight Rider

Designed by American Pamela Bartholemew and Michael Machado, the Midnight Rider is one of the largest vehicles in the world: it has even got into the Guinness World Records as the world’s heaviest limousine.

Made in 1986, this luxury monster is guaranteed to attract attention with its impressive size. The 22,933 kg limousine is more than 21 meters long and has 22 wheels. The sumptuous interior – that can seat up to 40 passengers – is adorned with high-quality fabric, copper, wood and mirror surfaces.

The robust black limousine features a 1800-watt sound system, a dance hall with a DJ booth, three different lounges and large, well-equipped bar. The horn plays the theme song of the movie ‘Midnight Rider’, hence the name.

4. The superhero limousine: Batmobile

Batmobile

This extravagant limousine is not like the classic Lincoln limousine, but they do have something in common: they have millions of fans worldwide.

Batmobile is the car of Batman, the superhero. Comics and movies have inspired an enthusiastic fan and this is how this impressive vehicle came to life, built on a majestic Corvette.

The price is still unknown, but is estimated to be around $4 million. The bat wing-shaped spoiler/tail wings make the limousine really unique. The rocket launcher and jet engine further enhance uniqueness.

Moreover, the front and rear wheels can be ejected in case of vehicle damage. No superhero fan could resist this limo.

5. Plane on multi-wheels: Boeing 727 Jet Limo

Boeing 727 Jet Limo

Lots of useful things can be made from redundant aircraft wrecks and parts. They can be turned into a dwelling house, a theme restaurant, or even a limousine.

This limousine is the “love child” of a Boeing 727 aircraft and a Mercedes-Benz bus. The nearly 11-ton monster features a fireplace, a sunken living room, a heart-shaped bed, a dance floor and several large-screen TVs.

Unobtrusive entertainment is provided by mirror ceilings, a fog machine and a huge, well-equipped bar, and the extraordinary limo has room for 40 passengers. Aerodynamic seats make long-term travel a lot more comfortable and bearable.

6. The royal wonder-limo: the Sultan of Brunei’s Rolls Royce Silver Spur Limousine

In his impressive car collection, the Sultan of Brunei has one of the most expensive limousines in the world. Many heads of state and rulers travel with limousines, but this limo stands out among them.

Its exterior is quite amazing: the entire surface of the Rolls Royce limousine – designed specifically for the sovereign family, is covered in 24 carat gold. It is estimated to be worth nearly $14 million.

7. Motorbike + limousine? Yes!

Motorbike limousine

This relatively tiny but truly special machine would certainly be very popular among motorcycle and limousine fans.

The unique vehicle is built on a 1998 Harley Davidson motorbike that was converted into a limo. Equipped with manual transmission and beautiful leather seats, this semi-open, limo-motorbike hybrid can comfortably seat up the 10 passengers.
